The Heart of Georgia Altamaha Area is a large, rural region in the central and southeastern portion of Georgia's large Coastal Plain.  The Heart of Georgia Altamaha Region is a significant portion of Georgia's traditional wiregrass region of South Georgia - a region whose landscape is still dominated by verdant yellow pine forest and many scenic black water streams and rivers which remain relatively undeveloped natural paradises.  This website is intended to provide information for citizens who are interested in biking and hiking our area.  Come back to this site on a regular basis as it will be updated frequently. 

Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy the areas mild climate and many historic sites and state parks along with the natural areas along the three main rivers within the region, the Altamaha, the Ocmulgee, and the Oconee.
