History
The Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Development Center "HOGA RDC" is the newest Regional Development Center in the State having been established July 1, 1996, with the merger of the old Heart of Georgia and the Altamaha Georgia Southern RDCs.
The Regional Development Center provides services to 17 counties and 63 cities. The RDC covers approximately 6,904 square miles of land that has a population of about 295,000 persons. The basic mission of the RDC is to provide professional advice and assistance to its member governments in the areas of comprehensive planning, community and economic development, historic preservation, local government administration and management, aging services, geographic information system services, workforce investment, and coordinated transportation.
